This Is Not A Big Deal, Except It Is

I've come to realize that I have a lot of opinions. Not necessarily  about the big things (although I do, but not the point of this post). Im talking about the little things that probably don't matter in the grand scheme of things, but somehow matter to me, enough for me to write this. So, in the spirit of self-awareness, I decided to put together a list of the things I'm weirdly passionate about. Some....reasonable....others maybe not so much. But I stand by them.

1. If you tell me 7pm, I will be there at 7pm.

  • If there is an event, dinner, or a meeting where I need to be punctual and on time. I will be there on time. Not only do I hateeeeeee waiting for people, it is hard for me to understand people who are chronically late. If you tell me to meet for dinner at 7pm, my brain maps out the day including what I need to do and what time I need to shower, making sure I have enough time to make to dinner at 7pm. I am more flexible when it comes to house parties, etc, but if you tell me to be somewhere at a certain time, I will be there.

2. If plans aren't made in advance, I'm probably not attending.

  • I am not a (on Thursday), "Hey Kel what are your plans this weekend?" kind of girl. Babe, if Thursday is already here, my weekend is already planned. Not only  have I mapped out what I am doing and if there is somewhere to be, but I am also including my self care time and time to rest and relax before another busy week of work. Please tell me in advance, at least a week's notice.

3. Don't come to me with an idea and no details.

  • If you have an idea of a plan or an activity, you must also present the details of said idea. Don't just come with an idea for me to figure out, have the details so when I ask all the questions, they're already answered. For example, "Hey we should go to the beach this weekend!", but when asked questions like: What day, what time, what beach, etc....you haven't even thought about those parts yet.

4. Don't call me when you could text me.

  • Listen, this may be an unpopular opinion, but as someone who talks all day long at both of my jobs, the last thing I want to do is then spend hours and hours on the phone talking more. I am a texter and a voice noter. If you can text it, there is no need for me to stay on the phone when I could be doing other things. Please understand people who talk all day, everyday may not want to talk and THAT IS OKAY.

5. I actually love being home.

  • Contrary to popular belief, my home is my favorite place to be. If I could be a home, I would. As much as I can be social, I actually prefer not to be. Home is my safe space, I can just be and exist without any expectations. If I don't have to leave my home, I would rather not. My alone time and home time is so important to me.

6. I guess I am a conspiracy theorist.

  • Yea, I second guess things, a lot of things, probably everything. Calling me a conspiracy theorist isn't a negative or an insult to me. To me, it just means I am not gullible to just believe things that are told to me. So, yes, I am a conspiracy theorist and honestly, everyone should be. No way everything that is presented to us is as is. No way, there aren't secret things happening behind the scenes. Why would the government want us to know the truths anyways? Doesn't make sense to me NOT to be a conspiracy theorist.

7. If it's a new experience or adventure, I'm probably saying yes before I fully know what I'm saying yes to.

  • There have been plenty of times, I may get invited to do a new experience or a side quest or adventure and I am already saying yes. I love to try new things, see new places and have new experiences. My mom thinks I'm a little dare devil, but to me, life is meant to be lived and if it doesn't hurt me or anyone else, I might try it at least once.

8. If the menu is online, I'm looking at it before I get there.

  • I am not sure if it's my anxious brain, but how do people not look at the menu before going to the restaurant? If we have plans on Friday night for dinner, I already know what I want, what drink I want to try and to see if any of the desserts sound good enough to try. Raw dogging the menu for the first time at the restaurant is wild. (Unless its an unexpected trip)

9. I'm taking pictures of everything.

  • My friends laugh at me, but I take pictures of literally everything. Have you ever spent time going through your camera roll over the last DECADE? It is just a beautiful thing. Even if you choose to not post them to social media, just for personal memories, I love taking pictures. I'm taking pics of my meals, my outfits, friends, the sky, cool sculptures, everything. It's the reason I don't have to use any stock photos for my blog. I have a picture for every single topic.

10. Everyone does not need to know everything.

  • I think we make the mistakes sometimes that we trust people and over share things about ourselves. I believe actually that no one needs to know 100% everything about you. Some things you just need to keep to yourself, take to the grave or write in a journal. Often times, the ones we think will never, sometimes will and them having any ammunition against you is just not worth the headache or drama that can ensue.

Maybe none of these things are actually weird. Maybe they're just little pieces of my personality that Ive decided I'm no longer interested in explaining. I like knowing the plan. I like being on time. I like my food choices researched in advance. I like taking pictures of everything. I like being home, but I also like having somewhere to go. And apparently, I have a few opinions that I feel very strongly about for absolutely no reason. I guess that's the thing about getting older. You start realizing that the little quirks you once thought you needed to hide are often the things that make you, well...you.
