We're Not Boring, We're Just Not Hungover Anymore

Let's be honest here, sometimes the club/bar scene just isn't it anymore. The crowds?  Overpriced drinks? And waking up the next day questioning your life choices? Hard PASS. My friends and I decided to be more intentional with our time together. And let me tell you...craft night is everything.

Once a month, we get together for an evening of creating, laughing and catching up. It's our little slice of adult freedom: it's a space to unwind, be a little silly and still feel good the next morning.

One of the best things I've discovered through crafting is just how important it is for women to have hobbies (and men too). Things we do just for ourselves. Life is busy, work is stressful, and social obligations are endless (birthdays, celebrations, etc.), but carving out time to be creative, try something new, or just enjoy your own company is essential.

Hobbies aren't just "fun extras". They give you a reason to slow down, focus on something that excites you, and reconnect with yourself. They remind you that your happiness doesn't have to come from someone else or a wild night out (although sometimes these nights are still necessary), it can come from picking up a paintbrush, learning to bake, or even puzzling.

Having hobbies also means you have something to look forward to, something that sparks joy, and something that feeds your soul. And trust me, when you make time for yourself like that, you show up differently in every other area of your life: happier, less stressed and way more confident.

If you're ready to swap hangovers for hobbies and fun that actually feeds your soul, here are some fun ideas to try with your friends or just you:

1. Book Club, But Make It Fun- Pick a book, sip something fancy and have real conversations.

2. Scrapbook & Sip- Collect pictures, concert tickets, boarding passes and make a memory page.

3. Admin Night (I saw this on Tik Tok)- Get together with your friends and complete all of your scheduling or mundane tasks you just have to do. ie Dr's Appts, deleting emails, planning a trip, etc.

4. Jewelry Catch Alls- Grab some Mod Podge, a ceramic dish from the dollar store and decorative napkins for a cute new jewelry tray.

5. Paint 'n Sip- Grab Wine glasses or canvas from the Dollar Store (baddie on a budget) and some paint and paint your new glass or portrait.

6. Bedazzle Night- Sparkle up your life by picking everyday items (lip gloss, lotion bottle, jeans) and bedazzle away.

7. Candle Night- DIY your own scented candles.

8. Pottery Night- Grab some clay from a craft store and make picture frames, magnets, etc.

9. Spa Night- Face masks and DIY your own homemade sugar scrubs.

10. Coasters- Who doesn't need more coasters? DIY your own coasters with acrylic markers.

Craft nights aren't just hobbies, they're intentional fun, real connection, and memories that don't leave you dragging the next morning. So, try skipping the bar, skip the hangover, and make your weekends or weeknights about things that actually make you feel fulfilled. Because adulting is hard enough, your Friday night shouldn't be.
